Hortense Miller Garden Tours

The Hortense Miller Home and Garden covers 2.5 acres in Laguna Beach and highlights both native and exotic species in a spectacular setting of coastal sage scrub. The mid-century modern residence and historic garden overlook a rugged canyon with dramatic views. It has been part of our City since 1959.

The Friends of the Hortense Miller Garden offer docent-led tours of this hillside garden and home. Tours start at 10:00 a.m. and occur on one Thursday per month and most Saturdays (varies per month).

Because the home and garden are located in a private, gated community, tour groups meet at a designated location and carpool to the property with a docent.

Tours last approximately 2 hours and comfortable, flat-soled shoes are suggested due to steep and uneven paths. Benches and resting areas are provided throughout the garden.

Please call the Laguna Beach Community Services Department at (949) 497-0779 during normal business hours to make a reservation. For more information, click here. To register for a tour, click here.

OPEN HOUSE:  Friends of the Hortense Miller Garden (FHMG), a non-profit group that maintains the property, are hosting an Open House at this world famous garden and its mid-century modern home. Since the property is located in a private, gated community, a continuous shuttle from the First Church of Christ Scientist located at 635 High Drive, Laguna Beach, CA 92651, will be provided. Light refreshments will be served.  Walking shoes are recommended. Activities include an art exhibit, crafts for children, and live music. This event is free of charge, however, donations to help preserve the Garden are gratefully accepted by FHMG. No pets please.
