Community Outreach Officer Program
The Community Outreach Officer works closely with social service agencies as well as the homeless and also with local local civic groups. Keeping the Ranks Filled
Recruiting inexperienced individuals with good backgrounds, strong work history and solid character often results in an outstanding police officer. At left, two recruits perform a character building exercise at the Police Academy at Golden West College. They are guided and encouraged by one of the Academy Recruit Training Officers, Jim Cota. Corporal Cota is a full time Officer with Laguna Beach and moonlights at the Academy while keeping an eye on our newly hired officers. As in this case, it is not always a good thing to be from the same department as one of the Academy Staff!

Officers who received promotions on August 3, 2009, from left to right: Sergeant Joe Torres, Lieutenant Darin Lenyi, Sergeant John Falk, Lieutenant Jeff Calvert, Lieutenant Jason Kravetz.
Police Officers must take an oath to uphold the law and support the state and federal constitutions.
