Vehicle Burglary Suspect Arrested- Laguna Coast Wilderness Parking Lots
Over the past several weeks, a series of vehicle burglaries occurred in parking lots adjacent to the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, along Laguna Canyon Road. In each incident, the suspect forced entry into vehicles, taking various items such as clothing, tools, cash, and credit cards. The Laguna Wilderness Trails are a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and maintained by Orange County Parks and Recreation.
LBPD Property Crimes Detectives initiated an investigation into the burglaries, conducting random patrols in the parking lots. They also reviewed still images, video surveillance, and conducted follow-up interviews with victims and witnesses associated with the case.
From their follow-up investigation, Detectives identified Michael Krier, a 39-year-old resident of Anaheim, as a person of interest in the case. Krier confessed to committing three separate vehicle burglaries in the Laguna Wilderness Trail parking lots and was placed under arrest without incident.
It is believed Krier may have committed more vehicle burglaries, and the investigation is ongoing. Krier was booked at the Laguna Beach Police Department jail for 459 PC-Burglary and held on $20,000.00 bail.
