Laguna Beach Firefighters have been busy this year responding under the State’s Master Mutual Aid System to assist in the many fires burning across the State. Presently, Laguna Beach Firefighters are assisting at the Chimney Fire in San Luis Obispo and at the Blue Cut Fire in San Bernardino. Already this year the Fire Department has responded to nine wildland fires in the following counties: Monterey, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Diego and Orange counties. Firefighters assigned to these incidents are gaining valuable experience that can be used when and if Laguna Beach experiences a wildfire. During the October 1993 Laguna Beach Fire there were more than 300 fire engines from all over the State deployed in the City.
