Marine Protected Areas
To report a Marine Protection violation, call (949) 497-0310.
Laguna Beach is a California Marine Protected Area. California has 124 of these sanctuaries where sea life habitats thrive and marine ecosystems are protected. In a Marine Protected Area, nothing can be collected, which is why you can't remove shells from our beaches or fish off our shores. For more information, watch this video from the Laguna Bluebelt Coalition, and read about Southern California Marine Protected Areas.
Where can you fish?
The areas of Laguna Beach north of Abalone Point and south of Seacliff Drive are open for fishing. These areas are outside of the Laguna Beach State Marine Reserve and No-Take State Marine Conservation Area and can be viewed on this map.
