Project Overview
The City of Laguna Beach is developing a Public Facilities Master Plan (FMP) that will both assess the current condition of the City’s select facilities and ensure they are able to grow and thrive for the foreseeable future. This important undertaking will ultimately provide a framework allowing for the successful growth of City services, administration and community programs. The plan will be developed in cooperation with community organizations as well as Laguna Beach residents, in recognition of their passion for ensuring these community pillars are properly nurtured.
Project Goals
-
Assess the current condition of the library, public safety facilities, community and art facilities, parking lots and more throughout Laguna Beach and determine needs for maintenance, repair and replacement.
-
Conduct an analysis of future needs for these facilities, keeping the door open to a blend of renovation, expansion or new construction, pending initial findings. Facilities should ultimately be both sustainable and adaptable, ready to not just tend to today’s needs, but also anticipate and proactively prepare for tomorrow’s challenges.
-
Hold regular public meetings and workshops giving residents and community organizations the chance to voice questions, concerns and ideas, ensuring the plan is fully forged in the spirit of collaboration and stewardship for the City’s vital facilities.
-
Prepare a financial analysis report detailing anticipated capital costs as well as a strategic implementation plan.
Get Involved
The FMP is designed to be a collaborative effort, emphasizing ongoing communication and engagement with the City’s resident experts and stakeholders invested in these facilities. Through extensive outreach efforts and a series of planned meetings and workshops, there will be ample opportunity for community members to voice their perspectives and contribute to the development of the Plan.
Timeline
The Plan is anticipated to take approximately one year.
Public Facilities
Over 288,000 square feet of public facilities will be addressed through the FMP.
