Project Overview 

Safer Streets Laguna Beach is a citywide plan to improve safety for all users of the City’s streets –residents and visitors alike. The plan takes a data driven approach to reducing collisions that also considers community input. This plan is being developed by the City, under the Laguna Beach City Council’s direction, based upon the vision of improved traffic safety for all. In 2023, the City was awarded federal grant funding to support the development of this plan, which will set the City up to receive additional Federal funding for implementing safety projects in the future. 

Project Goals

• Improve roadway safety outcomes and eliminate collisions that result in fatalities or severe injuries.
• Identify local roadway safety trends and strategies to reduce crashes.
• Engage the local community through a series of in-person events and online surveys and incorporate feedback.
• Develop effective and equitable projects, policies, and processes tailored to Laguna Beach that integrate the Safe System Approach.*

We want to hear your ideas and your experiences using the roadways in the Laguna Beach. We have prepared an Interactive Webmap where you can identify places where you've experienced roadway safety challenges traveling, whether in a car, on foot, on a bike, or on another mode. You can also identify specific safety concerns, such as speeding cars, poorly lit areas, or lack of sidewalks. Along with the Webmap is a survey where you can share you experiences with traveling in the City of Laguna Beach and your vision for the future of our roadways.
