Paint, Universal Waste & E-Waste Drop-Off Event
Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
This annual free drop-off event will be held at the City Maintenance Facilities (Parking Lot 16), 1900 Laguna Canyon Road.
Laguna Beach Residents are invited to participate in this free drop-off event to dispose of:
- Unwanted paint
- Batteries
- CFL bulbs
- E-Waste
Acceptable Items:
Paint: All oil and latex paints. 5-gallon and smaller containers only. Wrap or contain materials properly before transporting them to the collection site (Paint thinners, caulk, fillers or similar items will not be accepted).
E-Waste: Alarm clocks, camcorders, CD players, cell phones, computer monitors, CRT's and flat screens, computers/CPUs/Laptops, copiers, digital cameras, digital thermometers, display boards on exercise equipment, DVD players, hand held electronics, home use medical monitors, iPods/MP3 players, microwave ovens, PDAs, programmable kitchen devices, pagers, printers/scanners/fax machines, radios of all types, stereos (no speakers), telephones/answering machines, televisions, and video game consoles.
Universal Waste: Mercury thermometers, aerosols (cans), all lamps and light bulbs, and batteries (alkaline, lithium, NiCad, Mercury and small lead acid). *Rechargeable batteries which include lithium-ion are hazardous waste and will not accepted at the drop-off event.
No other hazardous waste will be accepted at the event. See below for a detailed list of unacceptable items.
Unacceptable Waste:
Hazardous household wastes that are not considered universal waste such as, but not limited to, compressed gas cylinders (aerosols are acceptable), flammable liquids, oxidizers, toxics, corrosives and state-regulated material, household chemicals/products, commercial chemicals/products, radioactive materials, sharps, expired pharmaceutical products, explosives, ammunition, large containers (over 5 gallons).
Important Reminders:
- A maximum of 15 gallons or 125 pounds may be transported per vehicle, per trip, as required per the Department of Transportation regulations. Multiple trips are OK.
- Please wrap or contain materials properly before transporting them to the event.
- Materials delivered to this event must be in secure, labeled containers.
- Materials will only be accepted from vehicles. Pedestrian traffic/drop-offs are not allowed.
- Please remove your personal information and data from old computers and cell phones.
- Participation is strictly limited to residents and small businesses.
Residents Only: Please bring proof of residency.
Residents can also dispose of hazardous waste by contacting CR&R Customer Service at (949) 662-3819 for a free pickup. Drop off centers are also available.
