Project Overview
The City of Laguna Beach is developing a Playground Master Plan that will evaluate the existing City playgrounds and identify short and long-term repairs required to maintain the playgrounds in good repair. The master plan will also result in a priority list containing cost estimates to assist the City in the long-term capital program planning and budgeting for playgrounds.
Project Goals
-
Assess the current condition of all the public playgrounds in Laguna Beach and conduct surveys for each of the nine (9) playgrounds.
-
Review existing playground audits and complete Playground Safety Inspections at Laguna Beach Community and Recreation Center and Aliso Beach. A Site Condition Assessment and Needs Assessment for each playground will be developed.
-
Hold public meetings and workshops giving residents and community organizations to develop priorities, ideas for theming and upgrading as well as the signage program.
-
Prepare a final Playground Master Plan to City Staff, Recreation Committee and Planning Commission to obtain additional stakeholder consensus before submitting and presenting to the City Council for approval.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
The plan will include a comprehensive, in-person and digital outreach and advocacy plan. The goal will be to ensure a fully transparent process and one where the community is engaged to ensure anyone who wants to participate in the planning process has an opportunity to do so. The Community Engagement Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the Community and Susi Q Center at 380 3rd Street.
Please complete surveys by September 30, 2024.
