The Engineering Division reviews private development projects for compliance with Water Quality Management Plan requirements, sewer line connections, and for backwater valve requirements for hillside, oceanside, and multilevel homes.  The department coordinates with the Building Division on all remodel and home upgrades to ensure the private sewer lateral for each private building is in serviceable condition and without defects that could cause a sewer backup.
