Project Description and Location

The existing lift station and public beach access stairs are located at the Anita Street end. Both the sewer lift station and the beach access stairway are over 70 years old and require replacement. The lift station collects wastewater from residential and commercial areas between St. Ann's Street and Calliope Street, up to Temple Terrace. The lift station also received additional flow during the summer months from five urban water diversion systems.

Project Scope

The project scope includes a new sewer lift station, beach access stairs, view platforms, lifeguard tower, Anita Street end modifications, landscaping, and irrigation.

Anticipated Project Schedule

Design and Permitting:  December 2021 - Spring 2024

Construction Bidding Process:  Summer 2024

Construction:  Fall 2024 - Spring 2025

Project Benefits

The project will help reduce the risk of sanitary sewer spills to the beach and ocean by replacing the dilapidated infrastructure and improving the City’s ability to access and maintain the critical equipment.  The project will also improve the public’s beach access experience to Anita Street beach by incorporating things like viewing platforms and new landscaping.  The new lift station will be designed into the new beach access to reduce visual impacts for the surrounding residents and public.
