Park Ave Underground District Map 20210512

Project Goals

  • Underground approximately 1,035 feet of overhead lines and remove 8 utility poles
  • Replace wood pole mounted street lights with new street lights.
  • Remove the utility poles and overhead wires which could block the road to improve emergency access and evacuations at Park Avenue.  Route was identified in the approved Wildfire Mitigation and Fire Safety Report.

Project Funding

The preliminary estimated project cost of approximately $1.7 million is to be funded by the City.  The project will construct the underground connections to private properties within the district.

What Can the Property Owners Do?

The City encourages the property owner to:

  • Allow inspections on your property for the design of connections to the new system
  • Be aware of potential construction impacts (traffic, delays, etc.)
  • Allow construction of improvements on your property that only pertain to your utility connections such as: conduits for electric, phone and cable, electrical connections at panels, and the replacement of landscape and hardscape

Construction

The construction contract to install the underground infrastructure in the public right-of-way has been awarded at July 25, 2023’s City Council meeting. This first phase of work will support the undergrounding of the existing overhead utilities. Construction is expected to start October 9, 2023. Details regarding traffic control are being finalized and will be distributed to the public.
